What Restoration Select is designed to solve

Air scrubbers, negative-air machines, LGR dehumidifiers and air movers are often marketed with a single large number such as CFM or pints per day. Those numbers matter, but they do not answer every practical question. A restoration contractor or property owner may also need to know whether a scrubber supports ducted negative-air use, which filters it accepts, how much current it draws, whether a dehumidifier includes a condensate pump, how low a temperature it can operate at, or whether two apparently similar products are actually different generations.

Restoration Select organizes those decision factors so they can be examined together. The goal is not to invent a universal score. It is to make the important differences visible and explain which facts are manufacturer-published, which values are calculated by a site tool, and which questions remain unresolved.

What “select” means here

A useful equipment selection starts with the job requirement rather than with a merchant page. Depending on the equipment category, that may include:

• airflow and target air changes for a room or containment area;
• HEPA filtration, prefilters, activated-carbon options and replacement-filter availability;
• negative-air and ducting capability;
• AHAM pints per day, saturation capacity and the test conditions behind each value;
• operating temperature, condensate pumping and drainage requirements;

• current model status, exact SKU/configuration and manufacturer support;

The product database is evidence-first

Where exact product specifications are presented, Restoration Select prefers current manufacturer manuals, specification sheets, exact product pages, filter/accessory documents and support resources. Marketplace and retailer pages can help verify current commerce or identify a configuration, but they do not silently override stronger manufacturer evidence.

Missing information stays missing. Conflicting information is preserved. An older marketplace listing is not treated as the current generation simply because the model name looks the same. This is especially important in restoration equipment, where hardware revisions, Wi-Fi/app features, pumps, filters and electrical details can change while a familiar product name remains in use.

Restoration standards and job-specific judgment still matter

Equipment selection is only one part of professional restoration work. Water-damage restoration can involve moisture-source correction, material evaluation, psychrometry, contamination, structural conditions, documentation and safety. Mold remediation can involve containment, source removal, cleaning methods and other site-specific procedures. Restoration Select can explain equipment specifications and planning calculations, but it does not determine whether a remediation plan meets a professional standard or local requirement.
