Choose the application and the equipment requirements that actually change the job: minimum airflow, form factor, maximum amp draw, maximum weight, variable speed, daisy-chain capability, stackability, wall mounting and carpet-clamp support. The Finder matches those inputs against the exact normalized air-mover catalog and explains the strongest documented candidates.

Match Score and Data Confidence are separate.

Match Score describes how well a current model fits the requirements you enter. Data Confidence describes how completely the exact product record supports those requirements. Missing information stays unknown, and merchant availability does not affect the shortlist.

What the Finder is matching

The Finder is not a brand ranking. It converts your requirements into explicit evidence checks. A structural-drying application rewards fleet-friendly features such as low amp draw, stacking, daisy chaining and useful positioning. A high-airflow application gives more weight to documented CFM and directional form factors. A portable application gives more weight to low weight and low electrical demand.

Those application preferences do not override exact limits. If you enter a 2A maximum and the current exact model publishes 2.8A, that model is removed rather than being rescued by a high application score.

CFM is a hard field only when you make it one

Leave Minimum airflow blank when airflow pattern and portability matter more than an exact threshold. Enter a minimum when the job genuinely needs a certain published free-air CFM. The Finder uses the current model's normalized maximum airflow field and does not borrow a number from another model in the same series.

Form factor can be more useful than comparing CFM alone

Low-profile machines are often convenient for floor drying and compact fleet storage. Axial machines can move broad volumes of directional air. Centrifugal blowers can provide several aiming angles and may include carpet-focused hardware. Compact floor units can be useful where very small size and 360-degree floor airflow are more important than maximum directional CFM.

Selecting a form factor makes that category a hard requirement. If you are open to several styles, leave it at No preference and let the application score surface the strongest fits.

Required means the feature must actually be verified

For variable speed, daisy-chain outlet, stackability, wall mounting and carpet clamp, Required is stricter than Preferred. A verified Yes can qualify. A verified No is excluded. If the exact current record is unknown, the model is also excluded because the Finder cannot honestly say that the requirement is met.

Preferred is intentionally softer: an unknown model can remain in the shortlist, but the uncertainty lowers Data Confidence and appears in the verification notes.

Why low amp draw can matter on a multi-unit drying job

Current exact models range from about 1.0A for Dri-Eaz Dri-Pod and 1.1A for Phoenix Focus II to 5.0A for XPOWER P-630HC. The larger-draw machine also publishes much higher airflow and a different centrifugal workflow. The Finder does not label one approach universally better.

Use Maximum per-unit amp draw when available electrical capacity is a genuine constraint. The field limits each individual unit; it is not a circuit calculator.

Daisy chaining is a feature, not unlimited electrical capacity

A documented daisy-chain outlet can make fleet deployment easier, but the manufacturer-published unit limit still matters. Phoenix Focus II currently publishes up to 10 units under its stated 15A-circuit guidance, while Dri-Eaz publishes up to 10 Velo Pro units and six standard Velo units. The Finder checks whether the outlet feature exists; it does not combine different manufacturers' daisy-chain rules into one universal limit.

Wall mounting and carpet clamps are intentionally separate controls

These are specialized workflow features rather than general quality scores. BlueDri MA-870 currently has documented wall-mount support. Dri-Eaz Sahara Pro X4 and XPOWER P-630HC have documented carpet-clamp capability. If you do not need those exact functions, leave the control at No preference rather than rewarding a feature that has no value to the job.

Published operating positions help explain where the airflow can go

Air-mover manufacturers describe positioning in different ways, so the Finder does not turn every position statement into a single numeric score. Dri-Eaz Velo Pro currently publishes five operating positions, XPOWER P-630HC lists four fixed angles, Phoenix Focus II can operate vertically or horizontally with additional aiming through optional mounting, and BlueDri MA-870 uses a pivoting stand. Those descriptions are useful because they show how the machine can be aimed, but they are not directly interchangeable measurements.

That is why the result card shows the exact published positioning text instead of inventing a universal “position count” winner. If wall mounting or a carpet clamp is essential, use the dedicated Required controls. For more general aiming flexibility, the selected application helps the scoring while the original manufacturer wording remains visible for review.

Data Confidence keeps unknowns visible

Some current air-mover records do not publish every accessory or speed field in the normalized evidence. Data Confidence prevents a sparse record from looking as certain as a fully documented one. Unknown does not mean No, but it also does not silently become Yes.

The Finder does not calculate how many air movers a job needs

Quantity depends on affected materials, layout, airflow strategy, containment and the professional drying method. Restoration Select does not use a universal one-air-mover-per-square-foot formula. What happens when I mark a feature Required?

The exact record must verify that feature as present. A verified No is excluded, and an unknown value is also excluded because the Finder cannot confirm that the requirement is met.

Does the Finder use product stock or merchant availability?

Is the highest-CFM result automatically the best result?

Why can an unknown field lower Data Confidence without always excluding a model?

Unknown values remain unknown. They can stay eligible when the field is only preferred, but they cannot satisfy a Required feature or a verified numeric hard limit.

Does the Finder decide how many air movers a water-damage job needs?

No. It matches individual air movers to equipment requirements. Restoration Select does not apply a universal one-air-mover-per-square-foot formula.
