AlorAir Commercial Dehumidifiers: Storm Models Compared

Restoration Select currently tracks four exact AlorAir commercial/restoration dehumidifiers across two capacity levels: three 85 PPD AHAM machines and one 125 PPD AHAM model. AHAM values use 80°F / 60% RH. Saturation values use 90°F / 90% RH. Keeping those conditions visible prevents the larger saturation number from being mistaken for the common AHAM comparison.

Storm LGR Extreme and 850X are close on capacity but not identical

Both publish 85 PPD AHAM, 180 PPD saturation and 210 CFM process air. Storm LGR Extreme normalizes to 5.62A, a 33.8–104°F operating range and 64.3 lb. Storm LGR 850X publishes 5.9A, 33.8–110°F and 63 lb. Those are small differences, but they can matter when a fleet already standardizes around a particular chassis or when the upper temperature limit is a real requirement.

The 850X also publishes a 19.6 ft pump lift and a <58 dBA sound-pressure figure on the current manufacturer page. The Extreme current page publishes 58 dBA. Those fields belong in exact comparison rather than being compressed into a general “same 85-pint machine” label.

Storm LGR 1250X raises capacity and process airflow

1250X publishes 125 PPD AHAM, 264 PPD saturation and 300 CFM process air. The electrical tradeoff is an 8.1A draw versus roughly 5.6–5.9A for the 85 PPD models. At 79.2 lb it is heavier than Extreme and 850X but still much lighter than the normalized Storm Pro record.

A larger unit can reduce the number of dehumidifiers needed to meet a project-supplied AHAM target, but the resulting electrical and transport plan should be calculated separately rather than assumed.

Storm Pro reaches the same 85 PPD AHAM in a larger chassis

Storm Pro normalizes to 85 PPD AHAM, 180 PPD saturation, 210 CFM, 5.6A and 99.2 lb. Its normalized COP is 2.88 L/kWh, higher than Extreme at 2.44 and 850X at 2.5. It also documents auto restart and automatic defrost in the current record.

The larger 21.2 × 22 × 38 inch chassis makes it a different handling proposition from the compact horizontal LGR units. Capacity alone would hide that difference.

Pump drainage is standard across these four normalized records

Each current record includes a condensate pump. That means “pump required” does not separate these four AlorAir models in the Finder. Other fields—capacity, amps, process airflow, weight and temperature range—become the more useful filters.

Remote monitoring is also common across the group

The current normalized records all support Wi-Fi monitoring. AlorAir's product pages note that app compatibility can depend on manufacture date and device support, so a buyer relying heavily on remote control should verify the exact unit/app combination rather than assuming every historical unit uses the same app generation.

COP should be read beside the test conditions and job requirements

The normalized COP figures range from 2.44 L/kWh for Extreme to 2.88 for Storm Pro. COP can help compare moisture removal efficiency under the published test method, but it should not replace AHAM capacity, operating range or fleet-count requirements. A more efficient unit can still be the wrong size for the job.

Use the capacity planner when the project already has an AHAM target

Three 85 PPD Extreme units contribute about 16.86A; two 125 PPD 1250X units contribute 16.2A. Those examples deliver similar aggregate AHAM capacity with similar summed dehumidifier amps, but they differ in unit count, process airflow, weight distribution and room placement. Chassis dimensions separate the compact Storm units from Storm Pro

Storm LGR Extreme is about 22.8 × 13.7 × 17.3 inches and Storm LGR 850X about 21 × 11.6 × 17.3 inches. Storm LGR 1250X grows to roughly 26.1 × 15.5 × 17.6 inches. Storm Pro is a different upright format at about 21.2 × 22 × 38 inches. Those proportions affect truck loading, stairs, storage and where a machine can sit in an occupied building.

A buyer who only compares PPD could miss that three of these models are compact horizontal restoration units while Storm Pro occupies much more vertical and floor space.

Operating-temperature limits can become a hard requirement

Extreme publishes a 104°F upper operating limit, Storm Pro 105°F, and both 850X and 1250X 110°F in the normalized records. All begin near 33.8°F. If a project is expected to run in unusually warm conditions, the upper limit can eliminate a model even when capacity, pump and monitoring features look otherwise equivalent.
